ABOUT 'FLY TOGETHER BOOK CLUB'

Drew Lanham, Author of ‘The Homeplace, Memoirs of A Colored Man’s Love affair with Nature’, sums it up, when he says,

“I believe the best way to begin reconnecting humanity’s heart, mind and soul to nature is for us to share our individual stories.”

‘Fly Together Book Club’, is about just that; an online community, coming together to explore the individual stories of other human beings and their relationship with Nature, through the sweeping genre that is the nature memoir.

It is also a place to share your story and reflect on nature in your everyday life.

You and I are living through the sixth mass extinction but unlike previous events, this time driven by human activity, making it more important than ever, that we come to understand on a deep, personal level, that in the words of David Suzuki,

“Our very being, essence, health and happiness, depends on Mother Earth”

or perhaps even more aptly expressed by Andy Goldsworthy,

“We often forget that WE ARE NATURE. Nature is not something separate from us. So when we say that we have lost our connection to nature, we’ve lost our connection to ourselves.”

Moreover, 'Fly Together Book Club' is a place to celebrate the planet we all call home, as Wendell Berry reminds us,

"The Earth is what we all have in common.”

Why ‘Fly Together’? because drawing inspiration from Emily Dickinson,

"Hope is the thing with feathers."

How to sign up?

Membership is by invitation, so if you have not received an invite yet and are interested, please follow and get to know us on Instagram and Twitter OR if you have received an invite from one of our members, please sign up via the Private Invite Link, you have received. What happens after I sign up

Create a profile and join in the online Book Chat, on our communities internet messaging platform. Share your thoughts, writing, poetry, artwork, photos or videos, related to your daily reflections and observations in the Nature Chat. Connect privately, with other members, via the Private Chat Feature, should you wish.

Is there a membership fee?

We ask for a modest subscription fee of €52 for an entire year (€1 a week) or the equivalent in other currencies, for full access to all of the features within the community (not a monthly subscription, like most membership sites). In rare circumstances we may choose to waive this.
